Definition
If you have a go at someone it means that you are criticising them.
For example – “My boss had a go at me this morning because I was late for work.”
Clip 1
The first clip features Roy Keane talking about his time as Ireland’s assistant manager and an occasion when he was criticising the performance of the player Seamus Coleman. He said that Seamus criticised him back and that he actually liked that about him.
Clip 2
The second clip is from the movie Ghost Town. The male character in the clip is criticising the group who are nearby for smoking to a woman he sees. The woman is actually a ghost and can’t believe the male character can see her which is why she asks him “Are you talking to me?”. The male character confuses the situation and thinks the woman believes he is criticising her but he clarifies he was actually criticising the other group by saying “Yeah, but I was having a go at them not you.”
Clip 3
The third clip is from an interview with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. Eddie is talking about being criticised by fighter Conor Mcgregor for one of the fights he put on due to the difference in skill level between the two opponents.
Clip 4
The last clip is from the movie Adult Life Skills. In the clip the female character is being criticised by her mother for the way she dresses and cuts her hair. As she is leaving the house she mockingly invites the neighbour to criticise her as well.
